Bremond Band Leaders Prepare for New School Year
Cedarwilde B&B and Texas Tech offer resources to help band leaders succeed

Summertime was notably shorter for several Bremond Band members this year.  Jeni Ainsworth and Paige Cannedy, the newly appointed Drum Majors for the Bremond Tiger Band, made the long journey to Lubbock, Texas on Monday, July 5th to spend a week learning about conducting styles, reading scores, marching fundamentals and how to lead their band to excellence.  This is the 77th year for Texas Tech to host this camp, making it one of the longest running camps in Texas.  It is considered one of the top music camps in the United States.  This was Miss Ainsworth's first year to attend the camp while Miss Cannedy made her third trek as drum major.  The camp concluded on Friday with an exhibition and competition by all drum majors.  The Bremond duet was commended on their original salute - a precise execution of a drum major salute with a hint of their passion for cheerleading tossed in!

After returning from Lubbock, both Ainsworth and Cannedy had to repack for another week of training.  The Drum Majors, this time accompanied by the remainder of the band leaders, took a short trip out to the Cedarwilde Bed and Breakfast, owned and operated by Wanda and Paul Goodson, for their annual leadership training camp.  Joining our drum majors were Band Captain Jordan Thompson, and Lieutenants Tyler Wilson, Taylor Anderson, Danyelle Yezak, and Anthony Wilganowski.  These students will serve as band leaders for the upcoming school year.  Each student auditioned in May to serve their position.

While at Cedarwilde, the leaders spent time learning leadership skills, setting goals, and learned how teach marching fundamentals.  They also spent time working on their parts for the upcoming marching season and were able to spend some quality time relaxing, swimming, playing a little "Guitar Hero" and getting to know one another while enjoying the beautiful scenery that Mr. and Mrs. Goodson have worked so hard to provide for their guests.

Mrs. Cannedy and the Bremond Band Leaders would like to personally thank Mr. and Mrs. Goodson for their gracious hospitality, and for allowing us to hold our leadership camp at their wonderful retreat.  It truly felt like "a little slice of heaven!"  Thank you for supporting our band and school!  We look forward to seeing you during the upcoming football season!
